THE GLITCH

THE GLITCH

CCTV and surveillance have become a way of feeling safe on the streets and in our own homes. We are always being filmed, sometimes without our knowledge.

The Glitch questions the purpose of surveillance cameras, and whether the negatives outweigh the benefits.

ARE WE SAFE OR ARE WE PARANOID?

We're being watched 24/7 either by CCTV or through algorithms on social media. CCTV and surveillance are camouflaged into our environment, and we rarely know when we're being watched. What if we knew exactly when we were being filmed?

When we are aware of CCTV cameras, do we unconsciously change our behaviour? Do we immediately assume that the area is unsafe?

Do we walk in fear? or do we walk with the comfort of knowing there is someone looking out for us?

What if we could simply gitch out of CCTV footage and protect our privacy?
